Celebrating Windsor Essex Community Foundation’s 40th Anniversary’s Waterfront Legacy Project
The WindsorEssex Community Foundation (WECF) is celebrating a remarkable 40 years of inspiring philanthropy, and Asamaka Industries Ltd is thrilled to be a part of this incredible journey. In celebration of this significant milestone, the WECF, in partnership with the Corporation of the City of Windsor, gathered with members of the community on November 1, 2023, to unveil a new waterfront legacy project at Alexander Park, made possible through the generous investment and support of the community.
The Alexander Park Seating Area, which was unveiled on that beautiful day, serves as a testament to the power of community collaboration and philanthropy. This new space provides a serene and inspiring environment where community members can come together, relax, and savor the natural beauty of Windsor’s waterfront. The seating area boasts several amenities, including energy-efficient solar lighting, a concrete pad with benches and accessible seating options to accommodate everyone, and a carefully curated landscape featuring newly planted trees.
This legacy project is the result of a collective effort, with partners such as Port Windsor and Asamaka Industries joining forces with the WECF to turn this vision into a reality. The Corporation of the City of Windsor played a crucial role by generously donating the design and construction supervision time, further emphasizing the importance of community and collaboration in the project’s success.
Port Windsor President & CEO, Steven Salmons, shared his enthusiasm during the unveiling event. He expressed, “We are proud to join with Windsor Essex Community Foundation and sponsor their 40th Anniversary Waterfront Legacy Project, right here, on the shore of Port Windsor. This project connects people to our waterfront, and provides a gathering place that connects communities.”
The Alexander Park Seating Area is just one of several 40th Anniversary Community Legacy Projects that the WECF is supporting as part of its mission to create lasting change, celebrate the local culture and heritage, and honor the past while looking forward to the future. These projects aim to foster a sense of community throughout Windsor and Essex County, enhancing the quality of life for all residents.
Lisa Kolody, Executive Director of the WindsorEssex Community Foundation, reiterated the organization’s commitment to these values, stating, “We are privileged to be celebrating our 40th Anniversary with phenomenal community partners like the Corporation of the City of Windsor, who are helping us mark this milestone year by creating projects that help foster a sense of community throughout Windsor & Essex County, today and forever.”
Asamaka Industries Ltd is proud to be a part of this inspiring journey and to support the WindsorEssex Community Foundation in their mission of community supporting community. Stay tuned for more exciting projects, to be unveiled over the coming weeks, as the WECF continues to leave a lasting legacy of philanthropy and community spirit in Windsor and Essex County.
